why are the builds cancelled

Hi, Travis isn't building new commits and I don't know why. Can someone update the README.md for opensmalltalk/vm with a pointer to an overview of the Travis CI infrastructure so that someone could work out why things aren't working? _,,,^..^,,,_ best, Eliot

building plugins outside the tree

Hi, Has anyone tried to build a plugin outside the vm tree? In a vm build, how do I generate the necessary header files and libraries to be able to build plugins later outside the source tree? TIA .. Subbu

Moving build.* files under platforms/$OS/$ISA

Eliot, The build.* files at the top level are crowding out the main code directories and it will only get worse with more platforms joining in. Wouldn't it be better to move them under platforms/$OS/$ISA/ with a shorter name? E.g. build.linux32x64 ->platforms/unix/x64/build A Makefile at the top level can detect the platform and switch to the respective sub-directory for the build. The products can also be generated under the respective platform dirs leading to simpler names like cogspur instead of cogspurlinuxht etc. I am not sure if this option has been considered before. Hi all, especially Eliot I accidentally committed an experiment but I think it's worthwile. Look at https://github.com/OpenSmalltalk/opensmalltalk-vm/blob/Cog/build.linux32x86… I replaced make install-squeak install-plugins prefix=`(cd ../../../;pwd)`/products/$INSTALLDIR 2>&1 | tee LOG with exec \ script -f -q -e -c \ "make install-squeak install-plugins prefix=`(cd ../../../;pwd)`/products/$INSTALLDIR" \ >(sed "s/\x1B\[$[0-9]\{1,2\}\(;[0-9]\{1,2\}$\?\)\?[mGK]//g" > LOG) Which amounts to nearly the same result (compile outputs to terminal and to LOGfile) but the script do not see the redirection. The idea is to preserve Color output for terminal and travis (because it is actually really useful) but strip all Ansi stuff for the LOG file (hence the sed script). I had this for quite some weeks now and it works fine (no extra deps, its all (script, sed) there on unixes) What do you all think? Best regards -Tobias

linux32 Sista builds holding up the build
