I wrote the code to answer a suitable error object (a SmallInteger of the required size), but forgot to handle tyhe return, hence causing horrible crashes as the VM attempted to access objects in a SmallInteger. this was Max Leske's failing segment storage test case (a 66.5Mb segment). Handle the case by introducing a new error code (PrimErrNeedCompact) and having the primitive perform a full GC when it gets the error code, and then to retry segment storage. Have printFreeTree/printFreeChunk:printAsTreeNode: mark the root node with a '+'. Fix some slips in free chunk integrity checking. Clément, I think "lazy" in the comment in SpurMemoryManager>>fullGC should be "eager", right? I'll leave it to you to fix. Also IO don't understand the SpurMemoryManager send in "self SpurMemoryManager globalGarbageCollect.". Hi all, Thanks for all the hints, I finally got that thing flying! Building with MacPorts clang-6.0 and editing flags finally worked when I found all the places (OFLAGS and LDFLAGS took a while to figure out). Building with Apple clang gave me "leak detection not supported", so that one is probably too old for what I want to do. Now I still have to trigger the leak I am after. I will provide a bug report in the leaking component and I will report the diff on flags I had to make, they might be useful for others. It was pretty dirty, e.g. I had to symlink some objects in the MacPorts AddressSanitizer installation as some binaries were linked with wrong paths, ew. Again, thanks for encouraging me by telling me that I should be possible, I was already close to giving up. This Xcode env is a beast I try to avoid, too opaque to me. Below is an example report, with the symbolizer it even tells you the source location, pretty handy. I guess this is not really a leak, but expected behavior for FFI. Eliot, First, thanks much for processing the pull request. Build and FFI test on Cuis looks fine, but I am seeing really weird results with Squeak5.2-18225-64bit.image The FFI unit tests all pass green, but for ffiTestDoubles9 in a workspace I get 42 rather than 45, with CLI output: The 9 doubles are 1.000000 1.000000 1.000000 4.000000 5.000000 6.000000 7.000000 8.000000 9.000000 When I inspect the result, "self printString" answers '42.0' but the "self hex" indicates 0!. I am crawling through this, but somebody with a deeper experience of the VM might yield faster insights. Thanks again for all, -KenD
