I ask this some time ago. The problem is, that only one screen is touchable, and every one works with arm7 and arm9 proccessors. This is the only information I can give you. [vm] Large Frame size

I have a need for a larger frame size. I am defining internal temps for some changes I am making with macro transformations, and I ran into the limit of the frame size when compiling some method in the image. So what would be a good frame size for the large frame? Could someone guide me as to what I would need to change in the vm to support this? Will I need to use the SystemTracer to get an image prepared for using them and avoiding problems with the old large frame size going away? thank you, Rob

The plan is to bring people from the Squeak/Smalltalk and the PyPy/Python communities together to learn about each others projects and to think about collaboration possibilies. The sprint will be hosted by the Software Composition Group of the University of Bern from the 22nd to the 26th of October 2007. Topics and goals ---------------- The general technical goal of the sprint is to explore implementing the bytecode interpreter as well as the primitives of Squeak in RPython. This should make it eventually possible to auto-generate a JIT for Squeak with the help of PyPy technologies. The other important goal of the sprint is to teach the first-time-sprinters the sprint-driven-development methodology. The first day of the sprint will be a tutorial day, were talks about PyPy, Squeak and sprint-driven-development will be given. The further days will be sprinting days. Of course the most important goal of the sprint is to get to know each other and have some fun :-). Topics of the sprint: - learning about: - PyPy - the internals of Squeaks VM - sprint-driven-development - exploring ways to implement Squeaks bytecode-interpreter and the primitives in Python - or (maybe alternatively) implement a Squeak-backend for PyPy - think about how to load and store of images in PyPy Location -------- The sprint will take place in a seminar room at the University of Bern. workaround for weired colors with latest ubuntu linux

Hi, just as a note: the latest ubuntu linux ships with an opengl accelerated window manager snd some Squeak images, like croquet or squeakland display weired colors dependent on the background. Workaround: One has to change the display depth in the appearance menu from 16 to 32 to fix this. System: ubuntu 7.10 beta graphic card: intel - Jens -

[BUG] FFI

FFIPluginTests fails hard out of the box. When failing, strange text printed at the bottom off the Squeak window, then the vm exits. I have the following versions: vm: Squeak-3.10.6.exe image: Squeak3.10beta.7158.image FFI: 3.9.1 (from the Universes Browser)

Squeak Compute Farm

I've been reading some of the many posts on concurrency and multi-core processors. As always, a very interesting discussion. It got me thinking it would be cool if there was a generic Squeak compute farm which you could utilize from any Squeak image. Just write some code in a map/reduce fashion and send some jobs to the farm. Perhaps running in spare cycles on the desktop and or dedicated servers. Although I'm not sure how the latter could be funded. We'd need to work out how to manage the code, job scheduling, security, etc. I doubt it would be easy but it may be very rewarding. Perhaps someone has looked at something like this already? It feels like there's an interesting idea in there somewhere. A language extension that gives everyone access to a super computer. I understand that if everyone is using the same super computer, it ceases to be super but i doubt this would be the case. Let me know what you think. Zulq.

regression for seaside-based application from 7069 to 7158

I know people generally hate vague handwaving bug reports, but when I moved my application using Seaside and Wakom from 7069 to 7158, I found that it no longer started the listener port automatically, and that classes I changed wouldn't show up in my web app until another stop and restart. So, something has been introduced to destabilize some working stuff. Is there anything known about this, or anything I could do to narrow it down? For now, I moved back to 7069 to get the rest of my work done. -- Randal L. Poll: interest in glorp driver for MySql?

I think that the latest MySql should be able to support what Glorp needs, the last info I could find on this was from a few years ago. I was wondering if anyone else would be interested in this? Keith
