Grrrr what an idiot...sorry. It was the known problem of Objects as methods...I forgot that and I was running those tests. If I now run all test but those ones, it works perfect. Sorry for the noise. compilation of squeak vm on OpenBSD

Hello, I tried to compile squeak vm on OpenBSD. I tried to go as far as I could. I hope I can give you some useful information, it would be very cool to have the vm working on OpenBSD, and to be able to use Pharo on OpenBSD! :P Here are the information I can give: [~]$ uname -a OpenBSD sashimi.my.domain 4.7 GENERIC#112 amd64 * OpenBSD uses a too old version of cmake. ImageSegment, objects header and addresses

Hi guys. There is something I still don't understand about ImageSegment hahaha. But each time there is less :) There is a place in ImageSegment >> copyObj: oop toSegment: segmentWordArray addr: lastSeg stopAt: stopAddr saveOopAt: oopPtr headerAt: hdrPtr where it does this: self forward: oop to: (lastSeg+BytesPerWord + extraSize - segmentWordArray) savingOopAt: oopPtr andHeaderAt: hdrPtr. Basically, it forwards oop to another address which is actually the offset inside the segment. And it backups the original oop and the hader, as you can see here: Interpreter >> forward: oop to: newOop savingOopAt: oopPtr andHeaderAt: hdrPtr "Make a new entry in the table of saved oops." self longAt: oopPtr put: oop. "Save the oop" self longAt: hdrPtr put: (self longAt: oop). "Save the old header word" "Put a forwarding pointer in the old object, flagged with forbidden header type" self longAt: oop put: newOop + HeaderTypeFree. Now....the line I don't understand is this: self longAt: oop put: newOop + HeaderTypeFree. Because 'self longAt: oop' will answer the object header of oop. And there, it stores a number (the offset). Is this possible? In addition, it not only stores the offset, by it plus the flag HeaderTypeFree. I really don't understand how you can plus an offset and the flag. VNC on Android/ Squeak

Hi, i just uploaded a new Squeak-On-Android Image containing a RFB/VNC-Server. This image will only work with a VM build from the current source. It would be really cool if someone would test it, because i still have problems establishing a VNC-Connection to the Squeak-Image running in the Emulator. I can connect with a VNC-Client but the the image freezes/ crashes/ does nothing, maybe it's just an issue with the correct settings. Cog changes to variable declarations in Plugins

Eliot, I am working with OSProcessPlugin. It has not yet been ported to Cog. Under Cygwin, I was able to generate the plugin and compile it. I am confused about how I was able to generate it. The Win32OSProcessPlugin class has methods which state things like: self var: 'result' type: 'BOOL'. self var: 'h' declareC: 'static HANDLE h= 0'. I thought this had changed in Cog and we needed to use: <var: 'result' type: 'BOOL'> <var: 'h' declareC: 'static HANDLE h= 0'> as well as: <returnTypeC: 'unsigned char *'> <export: true> <static: false> and so on. Do these changes need to be made to make OSProcessPlugin work correctly? Thanks, Rob

I am trying to load and run OSProcess in Cog. I loaded: OSProcess-Base OSProcess-AIO OSProcess-Win32 OSProcess-Unix OSProcess-Tests Then ran the tests. Many failures. I looked at the vm and there is no ProcessPlugin or OSProcessPlugin. Should there be? What should I do? Thanks, Rob

Building the VM on windows

I am having problems with the DESPlugin in Cog. I am now trying to test in Squeak 4.0.2. Loaded latest VMMaker, installed Tools, downloaded and unzipped VM source, generated source files from VMMaker, including the security plugins, typed make (see output at the bottom of this email). Error: gcc: gnu-interp.c: No such file or directory It is in .\src\vm, not winbuild. I do have the added complexity of having 2 make programs, one from gnutools/bin and the other from cygwin.
