I don't know. I have taken the code directly from a recent source release of the newspeak-vm source. The subdirectory IA32ABI was integrated by John McIntosh some time ago. I moved only some file to correctly build into an subdirectory. The changes in the Files sqVirtualMachine.[ch] are taken from this subdirectory too. I integrated some changes from Vassili (Bykov?) inside the file sqWin32Window.c. The copyright statement in this file roots this file to Andreas Raab. The changes were partially merged with the source in the newspeak source release ( ns-squeak/newspeak-vm/vm/platforms/win32/wm/sqWin32Window.c ). We need to rethink the mechanism with the inIoProcessEvents-Counter. There was some discussion on this list about some ideas by Andreas Raab regarding another way to handle/pump the event loop. It could be a good time to integrate these changes/ideas. The generated sources I think/believe are under MIT license because the Alien-* packages are rooted under www.squeaksource.com/Alien. My changes in the file Squeak.rc have nothing todo with Alien at all. I'm no lawyer - I'm only a computer scientist. Hi Andreas, Marco added the changes to make Alien Plugin functional on Win32 to http://bugs.squeak.org/view.php?id=7475 If you are still in "VM building mood" please consider adding this to the vm trunk. Squeak Win32 VM update (3.11.8)

I know your time is limited but 1. You forgot to change the value of "ProductVersion" in Squeak.rc. It is still 3.11.4, so if one right clicks the exe on windows its still showing the old version. 2. Did you find the time to look at the service registration? You asked for a documentation and I found something in MSDN. As I wrote in [1] maybe the CreateService API is able to solve the problem... 3. The "build" directory in trunk still does not contain the *.rc files - so the documentation is still invalid when one tries to follow the instructions from squeakvm.org which says it works out of the box just by copying this directory (see [2] for my last question to you on this) 4. Why a 3.11.8 and not 3.11.6 ? Sorry for bugging you - but we should make it easy to build the VM also on windows (especially after these two new posts [3]/[4] about building the VM on Linux and OSX). Attached is a correct Squeak.rc with 3.11.8 instead of 3.11.4 for the version info. I also changed the time from 1996-2009 to 1996-2010 since we have a new year.
