[squak-dev] How do I change the debugger highlighting color?

Because I really, really need too change the color. I can't see where the error is - the 'highlight' color is so faint, it looks like nothing is highlighted at all. It makes tracking down where the error is really, really hard. I had a similar issue a few years ago with the Moose guys - they changed the sliders in the windows to be more aesthetically pleasing, but on some LCD monitors (notably, mine), the color is practically not there at all - like, apparently, this highlight color. Need an elegant way to solve a simple problem

I have a ByteString line. I want to strip blanks and tabs at end of it. Blanks and tabs allowed between words. MxMatcher looks a bit like using a gun to kill a fly. Any suggestion about a time effective way of solving the problem? (obvious way: asOrderedCollection and then backtrack killing spaces & tabs until find non space/tab char). MNU when disabling preference Show world main docking bar

Dear Squeakers, When I wanted to disable the docking bar I ran into a debugger in an image with latest update #15196. It does not happen in the Squeak5.1-15113.image from the FTP server. The strange thing is that all the showWorldMainDockingBar(:) methods have not changed for years. So far I did not find the reason for this. Maybe someone of you have a suspicion of what change might have caused that. Cheers, Bernhard

The recent uninterrupted run was about three weeks (there had been a two week run before) and a few minutes ago it crashed with no apparent reason. As the stack dump suggests I use BitBlt a lot, Squeak averages on 40% CPU, over all the Pi averages at 60% CPU. I have no idea what happened and there was no apparent reason. for the crash. There is no squeakDebug.log and I found nothing in /var/log. I restarted Squeak and it works nicely. Cheers, Herbert

Ni - a strange little language

Hi guys! Just wanted to give a pointer to a little language I am implementing: http://goran.krampe.se/2015/09/16/ni-a-strange-little-language/ Is it a new Smalltalk-80? No. Is it Smalltalkish? Yes. But still quite different. :) The article tries to introduce some of the funkier aspects of Ni. In essence Ni is a homoiconic dynamically typed garbage collected 100% live language similar to Lisp/Rebol/Forth in its simplicity. But it also has Smalltalk keyword syntax, Smalltalk non local return, blocks-as-closures as in Smalltalk and well, perhaps a few more odds and ends similar to Smalltalk. And one of the next steps is adding objects to it. This will be based on a model of cloning and delegation and an object, so a bit closer to Self there. Why would you want to look at it? Because it breaks (or will break) a few barriers that most Smalltalks still suffer from... easy integration with C/C++, multithreading, embeddability and so on. I mean, its decent for an AST interpreter but I haven't spent time optimizing it yet - it uses dynamically allocated things and methods (dynamic dispatch) quite heavily today.
