I normally hold my tongue (ok, it's me, I _bite_ my tongue), but in this case I find it really hard to read this block when there's a message send in the same line as the temp declaration. Chris C: If you have requested membership to box-admins I have received no notice and I find no pending request. Are you sure you tried to join the right list? Also, I want to remind everyone that both board(a)squeak.org and box-admins(a)lists.squeakfoundation.org are more or less open mailing lists. What I mean by this is that anyone who sends an email from an address that is subscribed to squeak-dev to either the board or box-admins will not be block, the list members will receive the email. This has been true for years now. So if you need to contact either group, just send the email, no need to be a list member. Chris C did email me privately and I've committed to getting the new website up. I can only budget so much time to this but I think I can finish it by the end of the week easily enough. Of course if someone else has a burning need to work on this I'm happy to explain my recommendations for how it be done and help. Ken

And part of the reason I'm willing to work on the site is to get other people to show me things they know. Thank you for that. And you did choose one with a carousel, so points for that. In my opinion that site basically looks professional because it looks busy. Not really my style. But I'm not who you need to convince. Get other people to buy in. And bear in mind you need to have a reason for any new feature you add. It needs to be part of the intent of the site. Features for features sake are not great. Stuff like this: http://www.chriscunnington.com/socialmediabar.png isn't what I'd call the highest priority. But if people want that - really, really - well OK. But bear in mind that although it's your site, it's my time and effort. You can have about half an hour a day. If you want a radical change, you can have one -- at the rate of half an hour a day. They say in the printing world: "There is speed, cost, and accuracy. Pick two." You don't have any money. So you can have cost (zero) and accuracy. But not speed: So to recap: 1. Get other people to support your idea for squeak.org 2. Choose things that fit into the aim of the site (which could also change). 3. You do not have unlimited resources. Choose what matters. Or, don't. And be extremely patient. In Apple Notes I have a list called "squeak.org issues". Perhaps you could think of it as a self prioritizing stack. I like to think what I've said is Project Management 101. I don't want the bus factor for squeak.org to be 1 indefinitely. I'll work to change that. But not today. Chris

Some SqueakSource.com updates

I have added myself (dtl) as a "superuser" in the squeaksource.com image at www.squeaksource.com. The superuser has privilege to edit existing project settings. The squeaksource.com superusers are now Adrian Lienhard, Fabrizio Perin, Lukas Renggli, and Dave Lewis. Ron Teitelbaum has offered to serve as adminstrator for Andreas' projects on squeaksource.com. The projects owned by Andreas are CroquetGL, OpenQwaq, ar, TweakExtras, SQLite, MCUpdateTest, Squeak, Secret, MAPIClient, TweakCore, SqueakSSL, Names, Sweet, Integration Testing, NanoTraits, Balloon3D, Tool Builder, and WebClient. Initial discussion concerned the SqueakSSL project. I have added Ron as administrator to that project, and will add him to any of the other projects on request. Ron, please let me know which of those projects I should add you to, and I will make the updates. Dave
