Hi Johan, I am able to load Grease and Seaside 3.2.0 from the Metacello configurations, which work very well. There is one glitch in loading Seaside, because WASecureKeyGenerator class>>canSeed tries to use GRPharoPlaform subclass, does not exist. But that seems to be related to the same issue that is causing the original unit test failures that you are asking about. The failures in WAExternalFileLibraryTest are related to GRPlatform. GRPlatform is providing a range of compatibility methods that are vectored through its concrete subclasses, which appear to include implementations for the various flavors of Pharo, as well as for a number of versions of Gemstone. I do not see any implementation of GRPlatform for Squeak. Presumably this might be a class called GRSqueakPlatform, but I cannot find this in any of the repositories, and the "GRPlatform current" idiom does not answer anything appropriate for generic Squeak. Hopefully I am just confused (by far the most likely explanation), but it seems that either I am not loading the right packages, or (worse) I am trying to "debug" software that nobody has gotten around to writing yet. Are these Travis CI failures actual failures, in the sense that they are tests that used to work, but now are failing due to some new problem? Or are they just an indication that GRSqueakPlatform does not exist, and we need to find someone to implement it? Thanks, Dave

Fixing the update stream for squeak45

I tried updating a Squeak 4.5 image with the default squeak45 update stream (http://source.squeak.org/squeak45). The update fails and locks up the image, not a good impression for new users. The cause appears to be a corrupt copy of one of the MCZs in squeak45: -rw-r--r-- 1 squeaksource squeaksource 72368 Feb 4 2014 squeak45/System-dtl.665.mcz -rw-r--r-- 1 squeaksource squeaksource 903249 Jan 30 2014 trunk/System-dtl.665.mcz The one in squeak45 is empty when viewed in a Monticello browser. The one in trunk if fine. Presumably this was some sort of error introduced in copying the MCZ from trunk to squeak45. I will fix this by copying the good MCZ from trunk to squeak45 using a Monticello browser. Dave

Installing OmniBrowser

I’m exploring SmaCC, which requires the Refactory. This sent me down several paths to try and install it. Extending The System’s script doesn’t work. [1] I tried a SqueakMap script using Colin’s last version [2] and it gives the same result, because it’s the same script. [1] After finding that ConfigurationOfOmniBrowser has #version1241:, I realized I just needed to understand Metacello a little better to install OB and RB. Trial and error lead me to a script [3]. Clearly other people are doing this. Perhaps one of those people could take a look at my script and see if it could use improvement, as compared to their version. I imagine that ultimately Extending The System could be updated with a script that works. [1] (Installer ss project: 'MetacelloRepository') install: 'ConfigurationOfOmniBrowser'. SwikiIn4.5 added to squeak.org Downloads page

This took a little longer than I thought, as I found more bugs and had to resolve them. SwikiIn4.5 is in the various_images section of the ftp area. There is now a link from the Downloads section. It should all be straightforward, but if it throws an error, please let me know. Chris

Original Squeak Release files?

Hi folks, does someone still have a copy of the original 1996 Squeak 1.13 release? The file name might have been Squeak1.13.sea or Squeak1.13-mac.sea. The original Squeak team members appear do not have kept it. Our version archive only has a copy modified by Ian to run on unix: http://ftp.squeak.org/1.13/ There is also an even older, pre-release version, but again that has been modified by Andreas to run on windows: http://ftp.squeak.org/1.1/ But having the original bits would be an important historic artifact.
