iphone squeak vm 1.05b4

I've push out the source code and placed a 1.05b4 iPhone VM on my ftp site. This VM includes a fix to ensure equalTo: uses the correct Objective-C method so that all the SUnit tests now pass when running it via the ObjectiveCPlugin.bundle under OS-X, or within the iPhone VM. I note the 1.0.5b3 and 1.0.5b4 VMs use a different squeak image that includes an VNC server, this allows you to interact with the VM from a VM client and have full keyboard/mouse control within the image from your VNC client.

Two simple examples executed in a Workspace: | butt | butt := StringMorph contents: 'Play'. butt borderWidth: 5; borderColor: Color red. butt openInWorld | butt | butt := Morph new. butt borderWidth: 5; borderColor: Color red. butt openInWorld Plain Morph displays border as expected. The StringMorph has no border! (Inspecting it, I find that its extension has a SimpleBorder, width = 5 and color = red. Yet it doesn't show) What's happening? Yet another Objective-C bridge

As part of my iPhone work I've built yet another Objective-C bridge. It can be found within ftp://ftp.smalltalkconsulting.com/experimental/ The required Smalltalk code for the basic logic, the SUnits, and the Plugin generation can be loaded from http://www.squeaksource.com/ObjectiveCBridge2.html The additional pieces required to build the plugin are found within the iSqueak SVN tree. http://svn.isqueak.org/vm/ Using aregular 3.8.18b4U macintosh carbon VM with the ObjectiveCBridge installed means you can invoke. testRetainCount | classOop instance1 count | classOop := ObjectiveCObject findClassName: 'NSObject'. instance1 := classOop new. count := instance1 retainCount. self should: [count = 1]. instance1 retain. count := instance1 retainCount. self should: [count = 2]. instance1 release. count := instance1 retainCount. self should: [count = 1]. People are welcome to confirm that it works, although it is compiled for ppc and i386 (32bit) I have not yet tested on ppc. This plugin was also installed for the currently shipping iPhone VM 1.05b3, however there seems to be a problem where resolving the method signature object isEqualTo: for usage between two instances of NSObject returns nil. But only on an ipod touch or iPhone not in the Simulator, or running as an os-x application.

Currently from the screenshot section the first two screenshots gives the impression that Squeak is only useful to build Czech applications and playing old morphic games ;) When I visit a website I typically use the screenshot section to see how the program looks and what people are able to do with it. We also have videos these days, so a screencast/video section might pe appropriate. Squeak is driving lots of applications, frameworks, research and cool things these days. Squeak website now runs on Aida/Scribo

Dear Squeakers, I'm glad to report that during the weekend we switched our website from SmallWiki to Aida/Scribo CMS and so far the website runs smoothly and without glitches. Well, I don't count the server here... This is a first step of webteam website renovation plan to serve even better to our community and also to be a nice window for the outside world to see, how advanced technology we have and how nice community we are. There are many plans in the future, first one will be a better Contact us page so that we and newcomers will be able to contact the community more easily. Next one is to make the site multi-lingual, so that language communities will have the content in its own language. Next major plan is a graphical redesign of the site. Building Squeak on (Open)Solaris

Hi, I'm trying to build a recent VM on OpenSolaris (the Solaris Express distribution) on x86 but I have the same problem on recent Solaris 10. It looks to me like the build is not making any of the plugins, causing the link phase to fail. It feels like I'm missing some obvious switch or env var that's breaking the build. Dear all In the 3.10 package Universe there is a package called TinyWiki version 1.0.1 It is probably the TinyWiki mentioned in http://www.iam.unibe.ch/pipermail/smallwiki/2006-January/001629.html which says that TinyWiki is a subset of SmallWiki 1 as a Seaside component. There is WAComponent subclass: #TWWiki The Squeak wiki has no reference to it http://wiki.squeak.org/squeak/search?search=TinyWiki&casesensitive=false&an… http://www.squeaksource.com/ has no project entry.
