The Reconfigurable Computing Lab where I am doing my masters work (http://www.icmc.usp.br/~lcr/en/) is currently focused on mobile robotics. I am making a single camera obstacle avoidance system and will probably use a mix of Squeak and my own Neo Smalltalk.
