Minecraft bindings (WRT regular edition)

I don't have a Raspberry Pi yet, but I couldn't wait to check this out, so I googled a bit and found a way to do this with the regular version of Minecraft. Got the Minecraft Pi API from Mojang: http://pi.minecraft.net I installed a Bukkit server: http://wiki.bukkit.org/Setting_up_a_server And a plugin which provides a subset of Minecraft Pi Edition's API: http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/raspberryjuice Loaded Bert's MC packages, did the #rainbow: demo, and voila! Rainbow. http://ss3.gemstone.com/ss/minecraft.html Sweeeeeeeet. Now I can use PetitParser to make MineLogo :D -- Casey Ransberger

SqueakCI Benchmarking

Hi Everyone, So with a lot of help from Frank Shearar and Nicolas Cellier, I have introduced performance benchmarking to the SqueakCI server. You can see our current performance trends at the following link: http://build.squeak.org/job/SqueakTrunk/performance/ I grabbed the shootout code from Nicolas Cellier, and tried to pick input values that would allow the tests to run in 5-10 seconds, enough to allow room for significant improvements without making the build take forever. I would like to encourage anyone who is interested to take a look at the benchmarks.st script that is part of the SqueakCI setup and send me advice if you have it. I haven't done much benchmarking so I am sure there are many places I could improve what is done. In the future I would also like to maybe add python or ruby benchmarks to the server, so that we can compare Squeak's performance vs other current languages. I would also like to encourage anyone who is interested to grab Nicolas' code and try to speed up Squeak itself, either on the image or the VM side. Now you can see the results of your work right away! So, that is where things stand right now. This is just the first step. Much as Frank has greatly expanded the CI server, I hope to eventually add in benchmarks looking at graphical performance in squeak (Balloon vs Gezira vs Cairo, etc), maybe network performance, etc, etc. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions I would love to hear them. Making seaside load in Squeak again.

Hey Seasiders I am trying to prepare a stable Seaside Image for Squeak 4.4 and just tried loading via the Metacello configuration (Like this: Installer ss project: 'MetacelloRepository'; install: 'ConfigurationOfSeaside30'. ((Smalltalk at: #ConfigurationOfSeaside30 project) version: #stable) load ) This fails, as there is a dependency on Zinc #stable in #squeakCommon. Also, I think it is worthwhile to add WebCilent to the Adaptors for, at least, Squeak, if not Pharo, too. I have seen that there is progress for that in the Seaside31 repository, especially for the 3.1 version of Seaside. 1: Would anyone object if I changed the ConfigurationOfSeaside in the MetacelloRepository to make Seaside load on Squeak (4.4) again? 2: What about me backporting the inclusion of WebClient from the 3.1 config to the 3.0.7 one? 3: Should I increase the patch revision for Seaside? Hi, now and than you read about xtreams and the stream implementation in squeak being bad. So I wonder what is your opinion of xtreams. Is it compatible with squeak 4.4? Is it maintained? Are there alternatives? Martin
