Xtreams doesn't load into Squeak trunk

I'll take a further look into the issue, but in my clean #11995 I just tried to load Xtreams: Installer ss project: 'MetacelloRepository'; install: 'ConfigurationOfXtreams'. (Smalltalk at: #ConfigurationOfXtreams) project bleedingEdge load and I get a debugger saying there's an MNU: an ExternalFunction class(Object) doesn't understand #callingConventionModifierFor: in Parser>>externalFunctionDeclaration. That method's been around a while - eem touched it last back in 2009, which is well before I first played with Xtreams [1] - so it's not like strange new behaviour landed in the image. I can see that the ConfigurationOf pulls in FFI - FFI-Kernel-tbn.20, FFI-Pools-eem.2 are loaded at this point - and it's during the loading of FFI-Tests-jcg.4 that I hit a problem. running for the board 2012

I'd like to reiterate my interest in serving on the 2012 board. Like the other candidates, I have a strong interest in Squeak, its future potential and the community. I also have an interest and respect for Squeak's *past*. My interest in SqueakMap is as a "domain model" of our community -- not just documenting our software packages, but the community of people too. I like to think about the community and its parts as a working system. I think members of the Squeak community like it to keep moving forward, but at a stable pace they can reasonably keep up with. Advancements that break backward-compatibility should be toward the "quantum-leap" end of the spectrum rather than the "taste and preference" end. Make such breakages really _worth it_. This is good for present community and also the past so that some of the really great, but abandoned, projects from the past can still be resurrected in the future. If re-elected, I also intend to propose a suggestion to the board: That we incorporate **cleaning of the Inbox** as part of our release process. Maybe this will require a "Deferred" or some such repository as proposed by Levente, but I think it's clear that the Inbox process has stalled -- an incentive integrated into the process that ensures non-trunk members will not feel like their contributions are being ignored forever -- they will be at least evaluated beefore the next release. GSoC news: we got 30 proposals, few stats

Dear Smalltalkers, Yesterday passed a deadline for students to propose how will they do the projects and we received 30 proposals from 23 students, which is in my opinion quite a nice number and I'm sure we can end up with quite a number of nice projects this year. And what is even more important: new Smalltalkers in community! Next two weeks mentors will review and rank/vote for the proposals, Google will give us a number of stipendiums it will provide and in few days after Friday 20.April we will have a final list of accepted students and their projects. Few stats (numbers of all participating): 32 projects 34 mentors 32 students 30 proposals 23 students wrote proposal Students by Smalltalk skill: 11 None 9 Low 5 Medium 7 High Students from countries: 5 Argentina 5 India 4 Russia 3 USA 2 Chile 2 Czech Republic 2 Malaysia 1 China 1 Croatia 1 Ecuador 1 Egypt 1 France 1 Germany 1 Sweden 1 Ukraine 1 Slovenia Stay tuned!
