[Idea] method source with it

Very often I need to search a string in the whole code of a package. Someone tell me to select the world and then select "method source with it". This works fine, but it searches in ALL the image. I would like to specify a package for example. Perhaps there is a way I don't know. If this is the case, please let me know. Sorry for just telling the idea and not to offering to do it myself. But I think this is better than nothing :) greetings, Mariano

[Idea] Last modified classes

Hi people. I am writing down all the ideas or thing I miss from others IDE that I have in mind. Lots of times I have to jump from one class + method to another. Having various opened class browsers sometime is quite usefulness for me. There is a "feature" in some programs or IDE that are very nice for this. For example, in Eclipse with ctrl + F6, or in notepadd ++ with ctrl + shift. It is very difficult for me to explain how it works, even more in English, but I will try it: You press a shortcut (suppose ctrl + F6) and it shows a morph with a list of the recent modified classes. This is vertical. I mean, one down the other. They are ordered depending when they were last used. The one is above is the last one recently modified. Then, every time you press ctrl + F6 again you go down with another class till you choose the one you want. And that's all. There, the class browsers, open the class you choose, with the cursor in the exact place you left it. Sorry but is very difficult to explain it in words :( cheers, Mariano

Is there a shortcut for right button ?

For right button I mean the one that has the options "Inspect", "inspect model", "select", "layout", and so on. Sorry I don't remember the colour. I will sending several mails but I think its better to have them all separated that one big mail. Cheers, Mariano

change windows with keyboard

I would be very useful for me being able to switch between squeak windows (workspaces, class browsers, test runner, and so on) with the keyboard. Once I discover that using alt + narrows I could see all the windows little and the current one bigger. This use very useful. But now, neither in squeak or pharo works for me. I am using latest damien image for both of them under Linux. Does someone know why now it doesn't work ? Thanks for the help in advance. Mariano

Name: Logging-kph.43 Merged SimpleLog and Logging. The names of classes have changed so if yoo happen to have SimpleLog loaded it should not interfere. Essentially the architecture is: LogCurrent provides the front end and the per process buffer LogAdaptersSet provides nested sets of emitters with filtering Anything that implements #logTime: stamp line: line level: level category: category sender: sender pid: pid can be an emitter. SLLog is not needed. The set up is more flexible, providing per process log configurations. The structure is more logically consistent. There are less convenience mehods to start/stop things at present.

Well, we're not held to any particular duration for the 4 series (i.e., I'm not forcing anyone to hold off on anything), but I'm happy to provide information about Spoon. Current status: I have a headful object memory with editions in it describing its classes, methods, modules, etc. (see [2] for terminology). I have a minimal object memory, and I have another headful memory with tools in it for manipulating memories remotely (remote system browser, remote inspectors, remote debugger, etc.). Both the minimal memory and the tools memory can connect to the history memory and use that instead of a changes file. I can do traditional things like looking up versions of a particular method, but also more sophisticated queries (for example, methods written by a particular author over some time period, removed over some other period, and that access a particular instance variable). My current task is creating a minimal history memory, to go along with the minimal memory. I'm transferring editions for all the components of the minimal memory into a copy of the minimal memory, and fixing bugs that I uncover in the process. Then I'll have the pieces of the next Spoon system: a minimal object memory, and a minimal history memory that describes it. I will release that, along with changesets for the remote tools that previous (3.2 to 4.0) object memories can use. Then people can start composing Naiad modules for all the behavior that I removed (e.g., graphics support). In August 2007, I got a new job[3]. This had obvious pluses, but one big minus is that it takes up most of my time. It's not as bad as it could be, since I arranged to keep Mondays available for working on Squeak (by giving up Mondays at the job). But it's also not enough to keep to a timely release schedule, apparently. Spoon is enough to keep me busy full-time, at least until the module system is usable. The current phase of development is enabling collaboration, but unfortunately the bootstrapping I'm doing is not a task well divided between multiple people. At this time last year, I thought limiting paid work to four days a week would suffice for working on Spoon and releasing Naiad by the end of the year, while helping coordinate the Squeak community. How to rewrite a license restricted method?

This is going to be a rather long email but I ask you to at least skim if you have even a little interest in the relicensing/Squeak 4.0 effort. Thanks to the efforts of many including Yoshiki Ohshima and Matthew Fulmer we have made some real progress on a 'license clean' version of Squeak. But we are now at the phase where we have some code for which it appears we are not going to get a relicensing agreement. So at this point it's either remove it or replace it. Thanks to Matthew publishing the history tools I've started to try to help out with this and have quickly learned that I really don't know what to do. I'm going to present an example here and I'm asking you for your considered opinion. SequenceableCollection>>asStringWithCr This method goes back to Squeak1.0 and has 5 versions leading up to what is today in Squeak3.10.2-7197/Squeak4.0alpha. It is the second version by Douglas McPherson that has the problem (we have not received a relicensing agreement from Douglas). I'm going to paste in, oldest to newest, all versions so we can discuss this concretely. In each I will number the version in front of the containing filename for discussion convenience and mark changed lines (relative to the earlier version) with a + in the first column. Now as I said above the problem with with version 2. As you can see each of these changes is at most one line and by and large frankly rather obvious. The change in 2 is clearly a bug fix and the straightforward solution. So the question is what do I do with this method, which is currently distributed as version 5, so that it does not infringe on djm's rights to maintain version 2 as SqueakL? Admittedly it's unlikely that djm actually wants this right, but lacking a clear statement to the contrary, it's the default we have to assume. How much of a change is a significant change? Should I delete the current implementation entirely and rewrite it from scratch? If so, how much am I allowed to know about the prior implementations? Ken

Squeak under the password

Hello. Is it possible to set a password like a "login". I mean when you're launching squeak - first of all you need to enter a password and only then you can work with your image.
