VM crashes when chasing pointers in sq3.10-7159dev08.05.1.image

I found that trying to chase pointers causing my windoze VM to crash. sq3.10-7159dev08.05.1.image Object allInstaces inspect , select any instance, then right click and select 'chase pointers'. How to setup fonts programatically?

Damien Cassou' image contains nice script to setup nice fonts on Mac. I opened script manager on Documentation → antialiasedFonts. But I can't decode what is the script behind setting up nice fonts. How I can found what is the script behind the link and how to setup fonts in squeak programatically?

Alan, Agreed. The name is not nearly so important as the fundamentals of a solid Smalltalk system. Focusing on the latter serves everyone: the children for whom all this was started; the adults who will set them up with something they can use; and other developers wanting to work in Smalltalk. If we do create a ViewPoints Smalltalk, or whatever it gets named, then we should do it right. Fix the gratuitous incompatibilities with other dialects, clean up the look and (far more important) the feel of the GUI, and arrange for the toys and the experiments to be built on top of vs. into the core language and environment. However, that is good advice whether the names changes or not. Hi-- At Göran's request, I've changed the "teams model" section of the "teams" page at squeak.org[1] to reflect what I see as the current situation. Algernon modification to register as an eventListener into HandMorph

Hi, Algernon uses Hernan Tylim's MultipleFocusHolder code to capture keyboard events [1]. I made a small modification [2] to use the event listener facilities in HandMorph instead. But I had to change HandMorph >> sendListenEvent:to: to get it work [3]. In my version we dispatch the original event to the listeners, not copies of it, so we can set the wasHandled flag. This may cause problems in the other users [4], and may against its design. What do you think? Web Team Report - April 2008

Dear Squeakers, This is a monthly report about Web Team activities for April 2008. Web Team main responsibility is to maintain our main public face: the http://www.squeak.org website. Main news last month is that Karl Ramberg stepped down as a team leader and handled his duties to me. First I'd like to thank him for his past work and also many thanks to the community to invite and confirm me on this role. I will try my best to advance the Squeak public face further as much as possible. We started with a project to upgrade website to the more up-to-date technology and currently there are already two proposals on-line: Aida/Web/Scribo based: http://squeaksite.aidaweb.si/ Seaside/Pier based: http://squeak.lukas-renggli.ch/ I hope that we will manage to choose the technology and then upgrade the website next month. After that there are many other plans too, but first and foremost is to improve the Contact us section (http://www.squeak.org/ContactUs/). It is very important that outside world has a simple yet effective way to come in contact with us which is currently seriously limited because of all spam we receive on the published email address. We therefore urgently need to provide a web form with adequate anti-spam protection. This form will also be used for the contact to the other teams and the Board. Deadline for this form is end June. We are also working on refreshing the content, currently the Teams page http://www.squeak.org/Community/Teams/ while other pages will be refreshed continuously, but a complete recheck will be done when the content will be migrated to the upgraded website. Volunteer Custodians wanted

Dear All, Having setup packages(a)lists.squeakfoundation.org , I would like to get the Packages Teams going once more. I am looking for volunteers to look after the package definitions for each of the major Squeak releases. The objective being to get as many packages as possible available in any and all of the squeak base images. In particular it would be good to have one "custodian" for each of 3.7, 3.8 , 3.9, 3.10, 3.11, Croquet, etoys OLPC and Pharo. Since 3.7, and 3.9/10 have been able to adopt the definitions from Universes, this leaves 3.8 looking rather unsupported. Responsibilities of Custodians. 1. Learn some of the finer points of the Sake/Packages system. 2. Do a first pass of the package definitions, defining the unstable and stable definitions in their branch. this should at least enable users to attempt to load of most packages into that version, thus starting the feedback loop. 3. Check feedback on any packages which do not load as expected and update package definitions accordingly. 4. Flag any packages which should load but need a fix or two any takers? best regards Keith p.s. if you are using an older version of squeak feel free to join in, and we can see about finding a way to get the tools support in your image.
