Using a Squeaklet with SSL

Hi I have a Squeklet running in Internet Explorer, it uses the *"HTTPSocket>>httpGetDocument: url args: args accept: mimeType request: requestString"* method to make HTTP requests to a web site running on IIS. This works fine under normal circumstances, but when the IIS setting is changed to "Require SSL", the method fails. Initially I thought it was due to this line: bare _ (url asLowercase beginsWith: 'http://') ifTrue: [url copyFrom: 8 to: url size] ifFalse: [url]. which obviously would not work with a url starting with "https://", so I changed the line to this: bare _ (url asLowercase beginsWith: 'http://') ifTrue: [url copyFrom: 8 to: url size] ifFalse: [ (url asLowercase beginsWith: 'https://') ifTrue: [url copyFrom: 9 to: url size] ifFalse: [url]. ]. Squeak now attempts to send through the request, but IIS refuses to serve the page. I think it is because the HTTPSocket issues a request without specifying the scheme to be used, as it is simply stripped off the url and discarded, but I don't know where to change it so that it will issue a request using the "https://" scheme. Any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks RUDOLF COETSEE

It seems like a lot of people are using 3.9 already. Which raises a basic question, should I upgrade? How stable is 3.9. Are there a lot of backward compatibility issues? Are there a lot of things that still need to be ported to 3.9, or is it pretty transparent? -Rich-

personalized user menu in 3.9

Noticed that in 3.9 (7055) that the personalized user menu doesn't appear, when doing a yellow button click on the World, regardless of the preferences setting. Here's what I did to get it back - don't know if this is the proper approach - took a chunk of code from PasteUpMorph>>yellowButtonClickOnDesktopWithEvent: and added it to: yellowButtonActivity: shiftState "Find me or my outermost owner that has items to add to a yellow button menu. shiftState is true if the shift was pressed. Otherwise, build a menu that contains the contributions from myself and my interested submorphs, and present it to the user." | menu | self isWorldMorph ifFalse: [| outerOwner | outerOwner _ self outermostOwnerWithYellowButtonMenu. outerOwner ifNil: [^ self]. outerOwner == self ifFalse: [^ outerOwner yellowButtonActivity: shiftState]]. VM build problem: sqInt?

I'm attempting to build a VM for a 64-bit Intel mac, using image version #7051 and VM version 3.8.12.beta5U, and revision 1520 of the C sources. I follow the usual steps regarding VMMaker, Balloon 3D, special change sets, and gnuification. If I check "64 bit VM" in VMMaker, generate sources, gnuify, and compile I get these compilation errors: conflicting types for ioExit: int ioExit(void) { previous declaration of ioExit was here: sqInt ioExit(void); and ditto for: ioDisablePowerManager, ioBeep, ioFormPrint, attributeSize, etc and also a few in sqMacTime: ioMicroMSecs, ioSeconds, ... If I uncheck "64 bit VM", clean out sources, regenerate, etc, then I get these undefined's from ld: _ioFilenamefromStringofLengthresolveAliases _vmEndianness Has anyone else had a similar experience? I'd prefer to build the 64- bit version if possible. Thanks a million for any suggestions. Jay

SE Tools Team report summer 2006

Hi all, here the first report of the SqF Software Engineering Tools team: Our main interest at this time has to parts: 1) Porting Mondrian (http://smallwiki.unibe.ch/mondrian) and Moose (http://smallwiki.unibe.ch/Moose) to Squeak 2) Working for a bug tracking system running in and for Squeak. Until today, the state is as follows: 1) The work is started for Mondrian (at the kernel), but until now there is nothing to show. But work continues :-). Moose port is not started already, but there is a good chance that there will be a start in the next time. 2) The most people may be know already: Gjallar (http:// swiki.krampe.se/gjallar) has taken place as a very good candidate for a Squeak bug tracking system. It is developed by Göran Krampe and Magnus Kling and is under active development. Communication for this development is done by the SETools Mailing list (http:// lists.squeakfoundation.org/mailman/listinfo/setools). The latest report for Gjallar progress can be read here: http:// lists.squeakfoundation.org/pipermail/setools/2006-August/000167.html. I did make a test on a Power Mac G4 and it works as expected. Any chance of having a non-G4 optimised version soon ?
