[OT] Anyone ever going to stop this?

Hi all, I always thought certain patents are bulls..., but this comes pretty close to patenting the "expansion and contraction of biological tissue as a means to acquire bio-chemical energy supply and exhaust exchange" And it sounds a lot like what Exobox did quite a few years ago. The technique includes inputting data representing a photograph and storing the data as a photograph image file. The technique then identifies the manner in which the photograph image file stores time information (such as date and time of day). For instance, the technique determines whether the time information is digitally encoded in the image file, or whether it is embedded within the image data itself. The technique next includes extracting the time information from the photograph image file using a technique appropriate to the identified manner in which the time information is stored, to produce extracted time information. The photographs are then inserted into a time sequence based on the extracted time information, and presented on a calendar display at a location representative of the chronological placement of the photograph within the time sequence.

[BUG] Package Browser does not display extensions

in OmniBrowser 1.0a3, I can not see the extensions in the Package Browser. only selecting the '-- all --' category does display methods, but it actually display all methods, not the extension ones as one would expect. it seems that this is unrelated to the bug I describe in another mail Stef

I have been receiving messages from the list regularly, so I am not sure what the attached message is all about. What bounces? Does anyone know what's going on here? m17n ready to go

Hi all, the m17n stuff is finally ready for prime time. I've uploaded the change sets plus a install do-it to: http://impara.de/drop/m17n/install-m17n.zip After some discussion Yoshiki and I decided that the best way to deal with translations would be to not have them in the standard image but have them as packages on SqueakMap. This way they are easy to update and load. Basically all that needs to be in such a packet is the translation file. I've uploaded the latest German translation file (I hope it's the latest) on SqueakMap as an example. http://map1.squeakfoundation.org/sm/account/package/ecf67f1d-181e-4daa-b5ec… The translation files should be named according to the ISO language and country codes, e.g. fr, de, sv, es, es-cat, en-us, en-gb etc. The translation files can be created with Diego's language editor (a preliminary unpackaged version is here (http://impara.de/drop/m17n/LanguageEditor.st). I've adopted it to work with the refactored locale and translation framework. Strings in the files need to be in UTF-8. For converting files created with older versions of Squeak see the method snippet below. And thansk again for Yoshiki to making m17n possible!!! Hi Really thanks marcus and all the people that maintain and improve the refactoring browser in Squeak..... My favorite feature is when I extract a piece of code and that the system asks me if I would not prefer to simply call a method that already exist in the class. I knew that since years but this is always cool. Stef

[ANN] pre pre alpha of SlideshowMorph

Hi as I promised it to myself, I'm reimplementing bookmorph. I'm developing tests nearly systematically for the new behavior. In fact I try to specify the behavior before implementing it, this is quite fun. Because when a bunch of tests run, I'm done :). The current version is available on Squeak source. A tentative bookMorph substitute developed test first. Some people may think that I'm simply reinventing the wheel but I prefer to reinvent a wheel that rolls and can be transformed into booster than continue using squared wheels. For the moment the current version supports: - manage multiple pages - navigation (control morph) - insertion - deletion - gotopage - menu - prototype Next steps: - reapplication of prototype - save pages - search text - transition effect - automatic numbering - bookmark - sorting pages - assembling presentation from description - multiple prototypes (with thumbnails and drag and drop) If you want to help let me know (I will only accept code with tests if this is not UI related). But we can have fun making it becoming much better than bookMorph. Stef
