MacOSX sound

Hi-- I have temporary access to a MacOSX machine (iBook running 10.3.2), and wanted to do some VM hacking on it. Before starting, though, I noticed I get no sound with Ian's 3.6g-2 VM, using -vm-sound-MacOSX (when I evaluate 'AbstractSound stereoBachFugue play' in a 3.6g.5420 snapshot). Is this a known problem? Is there a fix? Alternatively, sound does work with John's 3.6.1Beta5 VM, but I didn't notice where to get the VM sources for it (although I assume SourceForge... where are the instructions? Sorry for the FAQ). hi I produced a sar from all the files contained in folder Distribution25, I added an install subfloder and put there a preamble. I zipped everything with a command line tool. But it was not working because the preamble was not found. I checked and found that my files were not install/preamble but Distribution25/install/preamble fileInFrom: stream "The zip has been saved already by the download. Read the zip into my instvar, then file in the correct members" | preamble postscript | [ self halt. stream position: 0. zip _ ZipArchive new readFrom: stream. preamble _ zip memberNamed: 'install/preamble'. .... So would it be possible to have the sarInstaller checking for *install/preamble? Is is wise? Stef

[FIX][ENH][TEST] TimeStampReadFrom

This is a small fix to TimeStamp class>readFrom: to allow TimeStamp to build a new instance of itself off of its own printString (or #asString). Note that this is based off of the #readFrom: and #fromString: methods as included in Monticello. I find that several packages define this functionality -all differently, of course. It would be nice to have this in the main image - or at least whereever TimeStamp will end up. How to start Squeak under WinXP from image on network?

I just installed the downloadable version of Squeak 3.5 on a Windows XP machine. I can start Squeak on local images (i.e. on the C: drive). that is, this works from a cmd prompt: cd /d c:\squeak squeak.exe squeak.image I tried to open an image several ways, but am not able to start up images on network shares. For instance, this doesn't work: c:\squeak\squeak.exe \\ned\homes\Squeak\3.6\squeak.image even though I can in fact see the image file in the explorer. Squeak complains that it can't find the file. Why doesn't this work? If I map a drive it works, though very very slowly: map h: \\ned\homes c:\squeak\squeak.exe h:\Squeak\3.6\squeak.image But I was trying to avoid mapped drives, since they seem to be just "tacked on" to NT (i.e. they have to go through a translation to become native resource names, etc.) and they're something else that can break. -- Ned Konz http://bike-nomad.com GPG key ID: BEEA7EFE

[SVI] Shift Key Modifier

Thanks for the help Steve and Avi -- I had figured out how to change the help menu to work with < c -/ > but I thought that I had a problem in squeak with non-recognition of shift key modifier. Thanks again. Steve

[HELP] Shift Key Modifier

I just downloaded the SVI package that Avi suggested and it really looks cool -- however to get the help section going I need to be able to use < m - shift - ? > where m on my Mac is the command key. It does not recognize the shift being held down. Is there a preference I need to change or something else involved here. Thanks in advance for the help. Steve

Error occurred during install: not a gzipped stream

Hi, Version: squeak 3.6 When I tried to download packages like "PWS" or "PlotMorph" from Squeakmap using the "package loader", the "Error occurred during install: not a gzipped stream" came out. Is this due to the version conflict or something else? Any help?
