[BUG] Debugger Highlighting still not quite right in 3.6 when browseWithPrettyPrint enabled

I'm still having problems with debugger highlighting even in a 3.6 image upgraded to 5387. The best way I can come up with to give you a repeatable way to see this: 1. Start with a 5387 image like the one at ftp://st.cs.uiuc.edu/pub/Smalltalk/Squeak/3.6beta/Squeak3.6b-5387.zip 2. Go into the preferences and enable browseWithPrettyPrint 3. Open the Package Loader (SqueakMap). 4. File in Celeste Removal. This results in a UndefinedObject methodsFor:? debugger prompt. 5. Browse the stack. Guess I'll file the Celeste Removal issue seperately. ;) Ken

[BUG][FIX]Saving snapshot to other directories

It's long pissed me off that you can only save a snapshot to the same directory as you started it in. Or from. Or however you like to say it. It's not a difficult thing to do really. This changeset does it. You can now start /foo/bar/wibble/mySnapshot.image and 'save as...' to ~fredflintstone/squeakystuff/fredsjunk.image. I also made the changes file close and reopen in more sensible seeming places during the saving process. This means I can actually use the system without falling foul of the old 'open the file multiple times' crap. [BUG] BFAV/KCP archive problem

I just tried out the BFAV browser on the KCP archive. Somewhere around number 88 it failed because the #timeSent of an entry was nil. I really can't quite work out how this could arise since the mail implementation of #time seems to take some pains to prevent that possibility. A quick hack changing the ArchivePost>timeSent to return 0 if the ivar is nil got me past that initial problem. The MailMessage>time method uses ifError:, a crime for which there is no adequate punishment. Well, maybe an enforced watching of dumb and dumberer? Amen to that. BTW, everyone is welcome to join the review fest going on in the final hours of 3.6alpha by installing the BFAV and reviewing/testing/ commenting something (even if its small). I intend to do some approving tommorrow, so stuff that gets enough loving and is ready still has a chance to get in. Daniel PS. [BUG] BFAV requires net access to write a response

I was trying to open as a mail a response I'd written, so that it get put in my Celeste queue for later sending. I think this shouldn't require net access - being able to work offline is an important feature. The following lines show the culprit. Attached is a dummy-version of Babel to install in 3.6. With this all the 'translatable' packages can run in 3.6 without problems. Squeak on Athlon 64?

Hello folks- Anyone here done any benchmarking on a new Athlon 64? I'm going to be in the market for an upgrade for my ancient K6-2 350 MHz, and the machine will be as exclusively Squeak as I can pull off. ...is to find maintainers! Task 1, 2 and 3 are all still ongoing - but I don't think that is a problem in itself. Sure, I had initially planned these tasks to be ready by now - but it doesn't matter. They will be ready eventually. The BIG current task is actually to get task 4 going. Adam has posted a bit on the list but with very little response. People - it is really time for all to dig in here. Really. First some good news: http://anakin.bluefish.se:8080 (guest + empty pass) ...shows 50% of the image is covered. I count to 35 PIs and of those at least 6 already have maintainers. This gives us about 29 to discuss at this point in time. Ned/Brian/Adam keeps chewing on that task. I am guessing the first tentative list Adam posted was a bit "hard" to sign up for - many of those packages feel like they need some expertise. :-) So let's try with some packages which I guess will attract more candidate maintainers: BookMorph - the Powerpointish stuff. Mark Guzdial perhaps? Network - A big package, will probably be split by the maintainers stepping forward, see below. Morphic-Basic - Again, big stuff. I guess Ned and a few co-maintainers will step forward here. Collections - Richard? Come on now, don't be shy! We all know you care for these! :) Streams - Brian? Craig? TrueType - Yoshiki? Network is as I said a big package. I want all people interested to step forward and say so, and then we can together pick out a suitable number and let them take it. Furter splitting of it will of course be up to them! I am interested in Network too. And John Pfersich has already volunteered. I am guessing Stephen Pair and Avi Bryant are also interested. Come on out of the bushes people! If we eventually end up with packages that noone steps forward to maintain - then we would probably have to: - Reevaluate if they belong in Basic/Full. If not, pull them out. - Throw them into an "orphan pool" and assign a bunch of co-maintainers for that pool. I hope the orphan pool will end up as small as possible, hopefully empty. Being the orphan-pool maintainer is a real Hero Job. :-) regards, Göran

[BUG][FIX] CondenseSources uses wrong file name [sm]

This bug report is for Squeak 3.7alfa, latest update: #5566 from the preamble: Smalltalk condenseSources runs into an error that is caused by the fact, that the SourceFileVersionString is stored at two places - in SystemDictionary and in SmalltalkImage. When we get a new file name from the prompter, we have to update the string in both classes. This is added in SystemDictionary>>condenseSources.
