I forwarded the [FIX] post to Ned Konz (the author of the package), but got no feedback from him yet.
this problem hit someone else a few days ago so I sent the fix once again on the dev-list.

the solution would be that all the package are managed with a kind of squeak source and that people can publish there with the right meta information and from time to time the maintainer would go over them and release a new version
