Hi all, I'd like to use squeak behind a proxy. I need to forward all my http requests to a proxy server (with a ip address, a port and a login/password). There is something to deal with a proxy in the base image? I have found the class InternetConfiguration but it seems unused and has no comments. Someone can help me?!

Sure ... http://minnow.cc.gatech.edu/squeak/23

Thank to Chris Burkert and Germán S. Arduino for pointing out the squeak page 23 on the swiki. I think should be a nice idea to get a universal "http tunnel" for the squeak services.
For instance, whould be nice to connect to Magma/Minnestore or other Squeak apps using the http protocol.
In this way a client behind a firewall could use squeak db/hand morph services and so on... Whould be difficult to build a universal http tunnel directly in squeak? What do you think about it?
There is something by GNU: http://www.nocrew.org/software/httptunnel.html but this require another pice of software and would be not so stable (I have used it...). The best solution is to implement a special "HttpTunnelSocket"? Perheaps using XMLRPC as wrapper? Ideas?

Hi Giovanni

This sounds interesting ... something like CORBA? What would be the advantages?
From my point of view it is also important to implement a really complete TCP/IP Stack. The existing one is too abstract. Maybe this would be a good project in my studies where I have to do a 15 weeks long practical training, but that could start in about 12 to 24 months earliest. I will need a employer for this. Would be great to build "low level network applications" :)

PS: Maybe a kind of sshd with Portforwarding would be better. See also your thread of accessing a headless image ... that would help. I dream about a Unix-like-Smalltalk! A multiuser OS with security and much more. BSD comes close to this Dream but unfortunatly it is not Smalltalk.
Try:
HTTPSocket useProxyServerNamed: '192.168.1.1' port: 80 HTTPSocket useProxyServerNamed: 'my.servername.com' port: 8080
Regards.
Germán.
