A couple of weeks ago, I redid the FAQ in a format I think works better on Swikis. It's named "New FAQ". What do ya'll think? Is this a good format to switch to?
I like it. One thing that might be helpful would be some simple instructions at the top explaining how to create a new entry: i.e. what does the question writer do? and what does the answer writer do? If there were a template or something, then regular maintenance might not be needed.
Cheers, Bob

I too like this a lot, and agree it needs either such a template or a FAQ Q/A about swikis and swiki editing at the very top.
I also noticed several items that need to be updated. For instance the interpreter speeds are better now, I believe, and also the Q about morphic backgrounds is now trivially answered by the fileList "open as a background" feature.
Hi, I'm having trouble getting the menu for Bob's Syntax Morph change set to display vertically, the menu items arrange horizontally side by side running together across the screen. After opening a morphic project, I've filed the Syntax Morph change set (SyntaxMorph.17Aug933am.cs) into a pristine 2.5 image, updated to change set 1419. This is on MacOS 8.6. Has anyone else experienced this? Any tips as to what to try? Thx. Ken G. Brown
Sounds like the line endings in the changeset got changed in the file you downloaded (the items in a menu are supposed to be separated by CRs).

This happened to me as well. The fix: I downloaded the change set again, this time by copying and pasting directly from the www page into a text editor (to bypass whatever 'fixes' Stuffit or Netscape might otherwise apply during the download process).
All worked well from there. :)

Ok, here's what I did to solve the problem. Save as 'TEXT' from Netscape 4.61 did not result in a correct filein. Copy from the www page and paste into BBEdit Lite 4.6, then save did not work either, even tho everything looked fine in BBEdit. However 'Save As' from BBEdit, with the option for Macintosh Line Breaks selected worked fine. Looks like BBEdit may have defaulted to Unix line breaks on the save. Thx. Happiness. Works now. Ken

For those of you who don't have BBEdit (say, on Linux), you can use Squeak to fix most of the problems.
Solution 1.
Use CrLfStream
Solution 2.
Open a FileList, select the file. If the file is too large, do get entire file.
Now, depending on where the file came from...
From Windows, do remove line feeds. From UNIX, select all (alt-a, command-a), then alt-u (command-u), then
accept (alt-s, command-s).
alt-u/command-u converts LFs into CRs, that's why it doesn't really work for Windows files...

I just tried "remove line feeds" on Unix, Windows, and Mac formatted files -- it handled all of these fine, returning Mac formatted files. This is on 2.5 update 1419.
