Lakoff's _Women, Fire, and Dangerous Things_ (recommended by David Ungar) is an good book on the subject.
By the way, _Women, Fire, and Dangerous Things_ is good but fairly heavy reading. I would recommend George Lakoff's _Metaphors we Live By_ as a starting point. [_More than Cool Reason_ is a good follow on to this].
