Hi all
after playing a bit with a nice tool on mac (SnapZ Pro), I produced the following list of videos showing all kinds of cool aspects of Squeak - class creation - method creation - workspace - method finder - monticello connection - squeaksource registration - squeakmap - unit test writing....
http://www.iam.unibe.ch/~ducasse/Web/Videos/Squeak/
So if you want to help - you can check if you can see these videos - convert them in any format (and send them to me, I will add them to the repository)
If I have some time, I plan to do the same for - refactoring, and SmallLint, - seaside (avi :) you can do it too - debugger
if one of you want to do it. Please do.
I will do the same with VisualWorks now.... (tomorrow)
Stef
PS: it took me one afternoon so now we do not have any excuse not to have more of these.
PSPS: my plan is to create a repository with all this material + the books + all my lectures and the ones I will find....
Stephane:
As always, super share from you. I downloading all and tell if works in ... A while.
Cheers and GRACIAS
Edgar

Thanks all for your feedback. I redid all the videos and added news ones (I got a zoom effect...that now I removed). Note that there is not soundtrack since now you can add it in spanish, french, german, and of course english and japanish. If you do that I could host the files per language.
for now I will not do a french translation since I have to finish my lectures and do the same for VW.
Stef
PS: there are still missing RB seaside smallLint :)
Stef,
I can see that you and the others from Uni Bern have become quite active in enhancing Squeak, is there a certain amount of coordination between you and other "big names" of the squeak community, like
-Andreas Raab (Uni Magdeburg) -Mark Guzdial (GA Tech?) -Impara
or is everyone here rolling their own?
Not even to mention people like Avi Bryant.

Most of the time yes...
-Andreas Raab (Uni Magdeburg) -Mark Guzdial (GA Tech?)
Mark is out now.
-Impara
Yes we are working with Bert on squeaksource extensions (we use his extensions :)).
or is everyone here rolling their own?
We are paying attention to collect fixes and enh as much as possible and this is working ok. Some people do not want to have changes, other wants to only have their changes, other do not think that cleaning is really worth (and that we are doing random refactoring),.... but all in all I guess that with a bit more communication, monticello use, we are going in the right direction. Our intention is not to develop our own fork (of course this would be so easy to let Squeak abandoned and only focus on our research topics and have fun) but to make sure that the core is improving and that other people can develop their own world and wealth. I hope that in the future we will be able to use Tweak on top of Squeak for example. But for the moment we should get rolling 3.9alpha
and for that we need the help of the community to go to mantis and check the fixes, propose fixes.... So you also can participate to make squeak better.
Not even to mention people like Avi Bryant.
In 3.9 we introduced fastSocketStream.... so seasiders are of real importance for me :)
