I would vote for including Stephans backdrop change set into the official release (http://w3.one.net/~swessels/squeak/mine/backdrops.19Nov929pm.cs).

I wrote some code to do this which is avaiable via the swiki at http://minnow.cc.gatech.edu/squeak/683. Take a look at the bottom of the
web
page. This code works with V2.8a.
