Calendar Chooser

Hi everyone, So, I'm working on an application for managing my projects and timesheets and such, and one of the things I really wanted was a decent Calendar chooser. I looked around and didn't see one, so I spent a few hours and made what I think is a nice one... Its a single morph class, with one support class. I've attached a screenshot. I have no idea how widgets like this are typically included - either as some kind of add-on, or included with the base image. Thoughts? - Jon

Hi, this little method may save some time if you need to generate readable method selectors frequently. Any objections against trunk inclusion? OmniBrowser support now in trunk

Hi all, Just wanted give a bit more context for the changes I've just uploaded to trunk. They fall into two categories: One is adding support for icons in lists. OmniBrowser uses this to indicate things like methods being overridden and classes inheriting from certain important superclasses, like Collection or Exception. The other is making the current selection available when building context menus for text panes. Previously the current selection wasn't available when the menu was being built, though you could get it when actually executing a menu command. Having the selection lets us determine which refactorings are applicable, and indicate that correctly in the menu. I probably should have submitted these changes to the Inbox for review before pushing them to trunk, but I didn't think of it until I had already uploaded the first few versions. I don't think there's much risk of breaking anything, though. There's very little change to existing code, and that's only triggered by the model indicating that it wants to use the new functionality when it builds a window in ToolBuilder. The next release of OmniBrowser should be available pretty soon too, just a few more bugs to fix. Colin

Trunk test status

In a freshly updated trunk we have 3184 out of 3157 tests passing. We have 16 expected failures, and 11 failures, the latter being: * BecomeTest>>#testBecomeIdentityHash * ExceptionTests>>#testHandlerFromAction * LocaleTest>>#testLocaleChanged * MCFileInTest>>#testStWriter * MCMczInstallerTest>>#testInstallFromFile * MCMczInstallerTest>>#testInstallFromStream * PackageDependencyTest>>#testMultilingual * PackageDependencyTest>>#testSystem * RWBinaryOrTextStreamTest>>#testExisiting * ReleaseTest>>#testNoObsoleteClasses * SocketTest>>#testSendTimeout ReleaseTest>>#testNoObsoleteClasses lists a bunch of what look to be test artifacts: things like AnObsoleteAutoGeneratedClassForTestingSystemChanges. ChangeHooksTest and ClassRenameFixTest look to be the culprits. How do we make these two guys not interfere with ReleaseTest? (Or, how do we nuke the obsolete classes created by these guys?) PackageDependencyTest>>#testExisiting [sic] and #testMultilingual looks like they need updating. I don't know if these dependencies SHOULD be there, but they ARE there. I'll fix them to reflect reality, but if they shouldn't be there, please raise a Mantis report to remove the dependency! I suspect that SocketTest might well involve platform dependencies: it fails on my machine, an Ubuntu Lucid Lynx running the latest Cog VM. I'd really like to have a green test status before we ship 4.4, so I'm asking for folks to take a look at the above tests (I'll do the PackageDependencyTest ones) and see if anyone can make them green? And then maybe, for bonus brownie points, see if we can reduce the number of expected failures? Thanks! frank

OCompletion usability

Hi all, Thanks to Levente, I activated OCompletion in trunk. It's nice when typing a text from scratch (like in a workspace). But when modifying an existing text, not that great. The feature I most miss is the ability to overwrite a word fragment and hit cmd+j to repeat the replacement. Would it be possible to restore this behavior ? Nicolas

The first two are the same class (GNHelloWorld) served from different environments of a single image. I tried to load Altitude into the Environments image and it will not go in no way no how. WebClient and GreenNeon do, though, using Monticello. The third site is a quick Altitude site. The movie appears for me in Chrome and Safari, but not in Firefox or Opera. The gray gradients work and don't work in the same browsers. You will notice the Counter Page link, which when you roll over it creates a suitable url. It does not work. Altitude's relationship between paths and resources is very versatile and I haven't got the hang of it yet. So I can't link to the other page. Works on localhost ... Xtreams from the 2010 ESUG video I watched has this ability to layer/stack streams. This makes encoding trivial. It's impressive. Altitude has things called endpoints and relays (not to be confused with terminals and transforms), which I think point to the main purpose of Altitude - remote messaging. For surgery on an image to pare it down megabyte by megabyte. Or, consider an image as a single object. Then the image/objects send each other messages in the cloud. No polling. Pushing. From the vantage point of Altitude's main purpose being remote messaging, websites are incidental. Chris

I note ObjectsAsMethodsExample in the trunk image. Given the much more featureful http://www.squeaksource.com/ObjectsAsMethodsWrap/, should this guy really be in the image? (I guess it's OK, in the sense as being a minimal working example of something not obvious.) Maybe it could go into its own unloadable package? frank
