[OT] Eloquent Javascript (was: Clamato)

This appears to be a really nice tutorial book about Javascript programming, including a "console" and active content right in the book. http://eloquentjavascript.net/ Sorry, this is really off-topic, but I have been playing with Javascript for a while (http://home.roadrunner.com/~thefaughts/croquetscape/canvascape.html) and now I'm starting to look at it more seriously, partly because of Clamato and the Lively Kernel, and partly because I'm interested in doing some Functional Programming, which this book covers. Although it's not a "pure" FP language, I hope to get some mileage (or kilometerage?) out of Javascript in that regard. I have played with Clean enough to be dangerous, so I have an idea of the syntactical differences. Enjoy! Dave

[Ann] New release of Cuis (#0290)

Hi Folks, I've just uploaded a new release of Cuis to http://www.jvuletich.org/Cuis/Index.html . Biggest news is further simplification of the new Editors, removing old code for Sensor compatibility. Now the text editors are fully event based, no more polling, sensor ivar, typeahead stream, etc. The keystrokes input mechanism is sooo much easier to understand now :) . I also tweaked a little the fonts, for look and performance. I also did some more work on TextStyles and TextAttributes. Finally, if you select a bigger fonts, doing Preferences hugeFonts (and friends), you'll also have bigger mouse pointers on platforms that supports it. Enjoy! Cheers, Juan Vuletich

We discussed a bit the procedure, how to make it easy and convenient to install a multiple packages using Installer in a convenient way. Prerequisites: - you having a multiple packages , and need some untrivial steps to complete installation, which usually can't be handled purely by MC - for that, you creating a MyPackage-Installer package and put it in same repository as your project located. Now, what we want is: - load the MyPackage-Installer package - for all its classes, which implement #install method, run them. then after we're finished, unload the MyPackage-Installer package, because it is no longer needed, since its only job is to load the actual project to image. Hi Avi, Just went through the Clamato mini-tutorial and it looks pretty cool. The first thing that I tend to do when I bring up a new or different Smalltalk is look in the browser to see all the classes, just to get a general idea what is in there. Is there an easy way to list out all the classes in the browser? Maybe even a hierarchical view? What is the licensing (going to be) for Clamato? Or did I miss that somewhere? Thanks for sharing! i'm using the notebook currently, and since im not very handy with touchpad sometimes it 'clicks' at random places of screen, and squeak got a drop event from windoze, which i think it can't handle for some reason.
