VMMaker: Problem with C-code generation

Hi all, I am trying to change the method lookup process in the VM but I have some troubles with the code generation. I modified #lookupMethodInClass: in the Interpreter class and I added some methods and some class variables as well. For now, I do not need to build my extension as an internal or external plugin. The generated C-code (in interp.c) includes my modified version of #lookupMethodInClass: (it calls my own methods) but those methods do not appear in the source at all (as well as my class variables). However, I traced the code generation and my methods seems to treated. Any idea of what I am doing wrong ? Thanks for your help ! Antoine

[Ann] Cuis updated to #0201

Hi Folks, I've just updated Cuis to #0201. As usual, the files are at www.jvuletich.org/Cuis . Biggest news are better looking text with colored backgrounds, and additional Morphic reduction. The image shrinks by about 300 kb. Window opening is a bit faster. And I updated a bit the look of Window title area, mainly to allow some code simplification. Hope you like it. (Matrix rows: 2 columns: 3 ) collect: [ :each | picker next ] . result: a Matrix (0.2668126189461036 0.319686627164337 0.973142751014392 0.610216298890401 0.905335450966533 0.97292439452043) You may wish to study the Matrix class and see what else it can do. Magic Words released as open source!

Hi fellas! Just wanted to mention that Mikael Kindborg released Magic Words as open source the other day! See http://comikit.se/page_opensource.html IMHO it would be an awesome addition to OLPC btw, I think even Mikael was asked about it a while back. I have a simple question regarding the use of a proper idiom.I had to create a matrix (n X m) of random values and I used a line similar to this one: NMatrix withRows: ((1 to: n) collect: [ :i | random next: m ]). Since Smalltalk is so neat for its collection handling, I obviously did not like to write that line. I thought that I did not want to explicitly create the interval, nor use a block that requires an argument that I also don't use. The question, finally, is if there an elegant way of replicating the behaviour of #collect: but without the argument? Q: Contributing to Squeak

Hi, If one wants to contribute to Squeak but uses Etoys/Linux most of the time, where should the contributions be made? - etoys in dev.laptop.org - squeak mainline (bugs.squeak.org) - etoys in tracker.squeakland.org Will Etoys ever merge into mainline Squeak (say in Squeak 4.0). Will it then appear as a changeset that can be applied to Squeak rather than a separate image? TIA .. Subbu

Status of translations before Squeak 4.0

Hello everyone, I was wondering what was the status of the translation workflow in the upcoming versions of Squeak? to be more precise, I would like to update the (far from perfect) French translation from what I did for the Etoys image, and I'm wondering what is the "procedure". Are we heading to a "100% gettext" approach like the OLPC one (which seems very efficient to me)? Cheers, Severin

Starting Smalltalk with Squeak problem with color selector

Hello all, I am starting programming in smalltalk and I would like to create a morph in which I would like to insert a color selector that changes the color of my morph. Maybe it is easy to do but I have tried many times without success. This is a bug I discover in OpenDBX. Norbert (the author) has fix it and comitted in SVN. So, you can do two things: 1) checkout from svn: https://libopendbx.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/libopendbx/trunk/ And compile again as you did the first time.
