anObject becomeForward: aSmallInteger

Why can an object not #becomeForward to a SmallInteger? The primitive fails. A SmallInteger's value is stored in the actual pointer. It makes them a special case, but the abstraction is surprisingly water-tight :-)! I don't see any reason why this primitive can't succeed with this case. Just carve out the object reference and stick a SmallInteger there, or vice versa. Is there something obvious that I'm missing? Mikevdg.

Hi, In the [SmaCCToken class>>value:] method the atribut start is initialize with nil. But the sementic of start is a number so dose it not better to initialize with 0? [ANN] New team and mailing list in context of sqf

Hi all, all started at a discussion between Marcus and me on the way back from the Squea Deutschland e.V. meeting in Magdeburg (Germany). The result was to invent a group for all people, who are interested in Software Engineering and related tools. This group has now got shape in form of this new mailing list, which could be subscribed here: http://lists.squeakfoundation.org/mailman/listinfo/setools All peoples are invited who have interest at issues like: - software visualization tools - requirement engineering tools - bug management tools - coding tools - testing tools in order to improve the Squeak development process, and also to have professional tools for working with other languages ;-) There are some concrete projects: - building a new requirement and bug tracker for squeak, which is meta modelled, has visualizations and implements workflows (to this point there will be some news in the next days). - port of Mondrian software visualization framework to squeak - building requirement visualization in Squeak and Croquet. If it would be allowed to me to express a wish as "initiator" of that list: it would be a great concern to me, that requirement engineering will not be forgotten, and that we not exclude Croquet or Tweak by principle, because I'm very interested in collaborative requirement engineering. Of course this means not Croquet necessarily, but also accessibility over the Web (->Seaside interfaces). But of course *all* people are equal and all software engineering related projects and ideas are welcomed :-) Personally, I'm started for requirement visualization and will start at once with Mondrian port. For my work and to collect ideas of all, I've done some wiki pages on my Smallwiki http://www.hans-n-beck.org/ Softwaredesign (under construction yet) Thanks for Marcus Denker and Stephane Ducasse and the SqF for support and help. [BUG] Crash while working on a Future.

Hi all. I've got this really difficult bug. Attached is a small ChangeSet containing subset of classes that I'm using. When I execute the following, Squeak crashes: Future doing: [ByteStream]. The intended behaviour is that the value is returned immediately and is usable (any invocation will block), but is filled in with the value of the block when that block has finished executing. It works for a few simple cases, but unfortunately the image has a spasm and dies with the above. Only alt-d this. Don't inspect or debug it straight off; you'll freeze the image. Once the 'halt:' has popped up, you should be able to use that debugger, although you might have to define instVarAt:, instVarAt:put: and maybe one or two others in MessageCapture. There is also debugging output logged to squeak.image.log. I'm stuck on this. I have a feeling that it is more complicated that what immediately is apparent. Many thanks to any and all who have a crack at this! Oh, and the attached code is released under the MIT license. Mikevdg.

When you check timezones on the net, Indianapolis is the same time as NY. When I was a kid in the summer, it was the same time as Chicago, which is central time (primetime tv started at 7 and ended at 10.
