So maybe the squeak-dev is the right forum for this question (s): - Is it general knowledge there are 2 morphic lists, and is it a good idea to have 2 - Is it ok to use one of them for the MathMorphs revival communication, or better to ask to create a new list for MathMorphs revival? Regarding the second question, we could keep communicating via private email, but that makes harder for others to join, and it seems it is good to have a public record of the changes and discussions. Debugging problem with GOODS 80 in 3.8-6665

Hi, I'm having a problem with committing in GOODS 80 in 3.8-6665. KKDatabase>>commit is choking on a primitive failure in Socket>>primeSocketSendDone. I initially ran into this on a 3.8a-1 unix vm, then tried it on a 3.9-7 unix vm where I also see the same behaviour. Using gdb with the 3.9-7 vm I find that socketValid is returning false because the SocketPtr's sessionID does not match thisNetSession. Unfortunately I don't know what this means. Can someone please give me a hand tracking down the problem? I should be on #squeak for the next 6 or 7 hours at least. Thank you. Ken P.S. I should also note that I'm using the GOODS server version 3.01

Another GOODS issue: BlockContext's

I seem to remember this coming up in the past but a quick Google search doesn't turn anything up. It appears that GOODS is quite happy to store a BlockContext but it entirely unable to reinstantiate it. It attempts to use BlockContext (ContextPart) class>>basicNew: which throws a 'Contexts must only be created with newForMethod:' error. Quite a PITA when you want to store something in a SortedCollection. Oh well, I guess I can call OrderedCollection>>sortBy: every time I add a new item since adding is a comparatively rare action. If we're planning on refactoring Squeak, we're going to come across instances like this. At present, one has to be very, very careful when changing some parts of the image, as it's very easy to break something and leave oneself without access to tools - this is the responsibility that comes with the power of being able to change anything 'live'. I'd love to see a way of reducing this danger, and I'm very interested that Craig appears to have provided us with two distinct ways - one of which we appear to be intent on removing from consideration! - Peter

Fed up with the web

Dear Squeakers and Tweakers, I have been charged with building a website for a creative arts group, and I have to say I am fed up with the web, web2.0, AJAX, even Seaside (sorry avi) and all the rest. Its a long story I have been coding javascript in a little gizmo called TiddlyWiki for a year or so to try and do something a little clever with Web Browsers as a client, to be honest its hard work. This week I was looking at Laszlo a fairly cool tool (though on the same day I found a book about Laszlo son of Dracula which didn't bode well). In Laszlo you throw together an XML file which reflects the structure of your UI, the sort of thing you would do with a drag and drop GUI builder 15 years ago, sprinkled with some javascript for defining behaviours, and pop your data into a second XML file. This text file collection is requested by your browser which (when developing) hits a Java Tomcat serverlet which churns compilers for a minute or so to produce a swf file that will run on a flash plugin (but it doesnt bother to use any features of flash it just wants the renderer and vm). Within 1 day I find that Laszlo cant tile a graphic as a background and I hunt around and find it has a draw canvas that implements part of the Web Hypertext Application Technology Working Group spec for drawing. I looked at this spec and the future of the humble browser looks ominous, complicated is not the word for it. In this whole venture all I am thinking is What a mess! Then I found Tweak, and loaded a squeak image - as you do - and lo, we launch pretty quickly dont we, compare that with mozilla or acrobat and I am on a 500Mhz box remember the old days? All I want is to draw a picture, display some text, and share it with my friends. It would be nice if that text was familiar to my friends and you could click on things the way they are used to, but thats all I am asking for. A bit of user interactivity might be nice. So... what would it take to simply take squeak and present it in such a way as to be familiar to the average web browser user. Take a look a Tweak, Large fonts and we are almost there, some form of text layout engine, have text with inlined images and widgets. [SIXX] Adding CRLF getting out data from the image

Hi: Using SIXX to export some objects out of the image, with data of type: -Line1 -Line2 -Line3 SIXX generates additional CRLF, creating the the data as: -Line1 -Line2 -Line3 It's a bug or something I'm using bad? TIA. gsa.

Hi Serge, On: http://bugs.impara.de/view.php?id=3531 [Fix] In 7027 Scriptable button now turns wrong color when balked. is the continuation or mantis#3339. It has a reversion for the previous fix and a choice to two ways to patch or fix the problem mentions in#3339. Your comments are welcome. I didn't understand the problem properly when I first attempted the fix. This time I did much better.
