There is only one thing wrong, AFAICT: the configure step decided not to build vm-display-X11. The cause is probably missing X11 development headers or libraries. It is hard to pin this down further because your terminal transcript does not include the output from configure. On Ubuntu the development headers and libraries that you need are in the package called "xorg-dev". Hope that helps.
