Mind you, we also have #lineEndConvention in the system, albeit unused. And Dave has as separate mechanism in CommandShell with CrLfFileEditor class>>#defaultLineEndConvention.

I thought this sounded like a good idea, but when I went to implement it, I noticed that FileStream stdout is already a MultibyteFileStream.  So that means it can employ the proper line end convention automatically.

So, I think either #cr or #lf is functionally equivalent, which is good.  I mildly prefer #lf in the code just for stdout's affiliation with Unix/Linux and its line endings.  If you're okay with that Tim, and there are no other issues with this, I'll move it to the trunk.
